Young Saratoans in particular aren’t terribly different in their mischief from humans. Sub-adult culture has it’s own quirks but there’s nothing specific they do that humans do not, it’s mostly in the tone and combination of their behaviors and the more divergent behavior from their human peers is kind of value neutral.
The only magical practice that can be used to alter consciousness is potioneering, the others either don’t have those kinds of effects or don’t have those kinds of effects on organic brains. The bored young magic users aren’t the ones making the potions, since potioneering is very complex and involves a lot of equipment, experience and perseverance but that’s just as well since there’s no shortage of potioneers making mind bending cocktails. There are potioneers who believe making and distributing mind altering substances is their spiritual calling, much to the gratitude of those misspending their youth.
