Another Crayon Crunch entry, this time it’s of the super talented DimeSpin’s character 112358AR. Ugh I’m too lucky to get this character.. a bee who gets lost in her thoughts, stuck in self-imposed exile. I tried to make the picture look dreamy. I’ve never tried to draw anything on a micro scale before, but I hope DimeSpin enjoys it, it was really a pleasure.

I love it! The colors are gorgeous.Thank you. =D

Eleven has a bad habit of neglecting to take care of herself sometimes. Thirty-Eight gives her grief for it, but she always helps even when she’s scolding her about it.

Have you ever looked back at older work and realized your work had evolved… in a bad way? I just had that moment with my Melliferian designs - very early on, their heads were more wasp-y shaped, and over the years, that slowly was lost. I didn’t notice this or decide it consciously, it just kind of happened. I decided to try bringing that back into their design, while preserving the individual character traits I’d developed later on.

I started with the three most important worker bee characters. I’ll work on the queens next time, and then maybe some secondary and tertiary bees.

11 was once one of her hive’s major thinkers, thinking was her job. Later she decided she wasn’t up to being such an important part of hive decision making, and stepped away from it. She felt guilt for the mistakes she made, and though her intelligence was never in doubt, she doubted it herself.

So she is now a forager, spending more and more time daydreaming aimlessly with no particularly mentally challenging work to focus on.

Silly 11, knowing about something and caring about it are different.

I think I feel settled enough on 11’s design to actually start tagging images of her with her name. Woo, doubt anyone noticed I wasn’t tagging the bees with their names.

Basically I’ve always wanted her to look like she had permanent bedhead and it’s kind of hard to do that in a species that are ALL covered in unruly fluff.
